Report back – Durban support meeting 21 May 2010
Topic – "Understanding Genes and Inheritance"Attended by approx 30 people, this meeting presented by Prof Corfield was definitely worth attending. The practical approach to the topic, helped convey a better understanding of the workings of genetics and its role in heart rhythm conditions. It was easy to see how Prof Corfield’s vast experience in this field contributes in her role as a mentor in South African genetics.Those present were involved in ‘building’ proteins and extracting DNA from normal wheat. It was a great example and proved to be quite fascinating. Many different materials were used and those present were encouraged to participate in the event.We would like to say a special thanks to Prof V Corfield, who extended her trip from CT to present this topic in a most entertaining manner.
