Travel Guidelines
-Contact your doctor or nurse for instructions.
-Ask for the name of a physician or heart center in the state or country you are visiting.
-When you will be away for more than three months, arrange with your doctor to see another doctor or request   remote follow-up with the Medtronic CareLinkTMNetwork.

Security Systems at Airports, Stores, and Libraries
-Safety measures may prevent or minimize interference.
-Most people with defibrillators are not affected when passing through security gates in airports, or electronic anti-theft gates in stores and libraries.

What to do
-Simply walk through the gate at a normal pace and avoid lingering near or leaning on these systems.
-If you experience dizziness, fast heartbeats (palpitations), or an extra shock caused by interference from equipment, simply move further away from the item.
-Your defibrillator will immediately return to working normally.
-The anti-theft detectors at stores and libraries in the U.S. are usually near the doors.
-In Europe, the detectors may be located in checkout areas of large stores.

If the metal case around your defibrillator sets off an airport detection alarm
-Show your defibrillator identification card.
-(For international airports, you may want a six-language card that states, "I have an implanted heart defibrillator that may set off your metal detection device." )
-Request a hand search to clear you through the security system.
-Avoid hand-held screening wands because these have strong magnets.
-Moving the wand back-and-forth over the defibrillator may cause the defibrillator to deliver a shock.

Home security systems
-It is unlikely that your defibrillator will set off or be affected by home security systems.
